Due to the Winds and weather in New England, long range forecasting and public notification for scheduled balloon test studies are not-often successful.
In an effort to provide some sort of public notice of the date and time of the balloon tests, this page is intended to be an up-to-date planner for public use.
We will be sure to update this page accordingly with probabilities and confirmation of scheduled testing once a decision has been made to proceed or re-schedule.
The criteria used to determine potentially viable Balloon Test dates consists of (in order of importance):
Winds forecast to be less than 10 mph throughout the duration of the study, (preferably below 6mph).
No chance of fog or mist (temperature/dew point spread of greater than 6 degrees)
Less than 25% chance of precipitation ideally, however, it is better to be looking for balloons through light rain or snow flurries than to try to look for balloons that aren't there if the wind has them pegged sideways or popped in the trees.
Mostly sunny is preferable for clearer, brighter photos, but not a necessity
